Yamunotri is the western gateway of the Char Dham circuit and the seat of Goddess Yamuna. Sitting at 3,293 m, the shrine is reached by a beautiful 6 km trek from Janki Chatti that winds along the young Yamuna river. Bathe in the steaming Surya Kund, offer prayers at the Divya Shila and soak in the calm of the Garhwal Himalayas — all on a comfortable 3-day trip starting from Dehradun.
Early start from Dehradun via Mussoorie, Naugaon and the Yamuna valley.
Reach Barkot. Lunch (own cost) and a short rest.
Drive 25 km to the Janki Chatti base and check in.
Dinner and a briefing for the next morning's trek.
Light breakfast, then begin the 6 km trek (pony available at own cost).
Reach Yamunotri Temple (3,293 m) for darshan.
Bathe in the Surya Kund hot spring and offer prayers at Divya Shila.
Trek back down to Janki Chatti.
Dinner and an overnight stay.
Breakfast and the return drive via Barkot and Mussoorie.
Arrive in Dehradun with the blessings of Maa Yamuna.
